Francesca Albert

Francesca Albert specialises in international investment and commercial arbitration and has acted in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations seated in various jurisdictions under the LCIA, ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID rules and subject to various civil and common laws and international law. She has acted for clients from Asia, the Middle East, South and North America as well as Western and Eastern Europe in various industries including oil and gas, defence, finance, banking, telecoms, construction, car distributorship, and food manufacturing.

Background

Francesca read history and French at Connecticut College in the US and obtained a Masters degree from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (UCL) in the UK. She qualified into the public international law and international arbitration team at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP (then Herbert Smith) in 2001 where she gained multijurisdictional experience working in London (3 years), Tokyo (2 years) and Moscow (8 years). In 2013 Francesca moved to a US firm as National Partner in Moscow where she focused on advisory work in relation to investment treaty arbitration. Francesca has lectured on investment arbitration at Queen Mary University (London), London South Bank University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). She returned to private practice with Enyo Law in 2022 having spent almost seven years as senior editor at Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law Arbitration responsible for creating and building global and investment treaty arbitration content. She is fluent in Russian, Spanish, Italian and French.
